After a terrific 2009, Conrod has put pen to paper on a new deal to continue racing for McAdoo Kawasaki on the open roads, as well as signing for the Black Horse Kawasaki Superstock team to compete at BSB level.
An excited Cummins commented I am really up for this season, I cant wait to get started. I am delighted to become a full-time Kawasaki rider in 2010 and race for the official Kawasaki roads and Superstock teams. The Ninja ZX 10R and ZX 6R bikes are superb and I am confident they are the bikes to have both on the roads and circuits. They make great power and handle like a dream, particularly on the Pirelli tyres.
Conrods impressive year included two TT podiums, becoming only the third rider in history to record an official 130mph TT lap, an outright lap record at the Southern 100, a world record lap of 133.28mph at Dundrod where he won two Superbike races, and most recently, runner-up at the Macau GP, pushing Stuart Easton all the way to the flag.
Team owner Winston McAdoo is eager to get going too We are all delighted to keep Conor on board for another season. He is a terrific rider and a real gentleman so we were mega keen to get his signature for 2010. I really think he is going to be hard to beat this season at any of the international meetings although you can never make predictions in racing.
Conrod is so young compared to his rivals at just 23 years old, giving away eight or nine years in experience at least but he is learning all the time and can only get faster. We have invested heavily over the winter in terms of bike development and the guys at Race Techniques are confident of further progress to what were already competitive Kawasaki machines. We have had great trade support too including some new sponsorship from DC Chains and Afam Sprockets, and are delighted to continue our partnership with Pirelli tyres.
A full schedule for the 2010 season will be confirmed in the coming weeks |
